Echuca - Moama
Madison Spa Resort – an Oasis in Moama
IMG_6200.JPGWe've just spent a long weekend in a Deluxe Spa room at the four and a half star Madison Spa Resort at Moama close to the Murray River.  And to our surprise the resort was actually better than the pictures in the brochure. Our room was a very large bed sitting room with comfy leather couch, gas log fire and a very spacious two person spa bath positioned in a picture window overlooking a forest of river gums.
IMG_6175.JPGThe room decor and bed furnishings were modern and tasteful giving a sense of quiet calm.  And even though the nights were cold the log fire was just perfect as was the beautiful deep spa.
There's so much to do at Madison resort that if you were there for a weekend you could just indulge yourself and not have to leave the premises.
IMG_6178.JPGMost people staying at the resort take advantage of the many accommodation/spa packages on offer and spend time in the large Day Spa.  Apart from the massage and beauty therapy options there's a large Roman indoor bathhouse, steam room, Vichy Spa and outdoor lagoon style swimming pool.
The Day Spa offers over 40 different treatments from body wraps, facials, nails, Vichy treatments and all manner of different massage packages.  When we were there it seemed to be a great spot for Brides and Hens taking advantage of group bookings for Day Spa treatments followed by champagne lunches.
Dining was surprisingly good at the unfortunately named Konosirs restaurant on Saturday night - a meal was part of our accommodation package as was a daily Continental breakfast.  Fortunately we booked a table prior to arrival as the place was packed on Saturday night.
Food was of a fairly high standard both in quality and presentation.  Staff went out of their way to be helpful and attentive, even suggesting places for us to visit the next day.
The only very minor hitches to our weekend were the TV coverage for the Monaco Grand Prix which only miraculously materialised on the warm up lap and the reception staff who had no knowledge of how the publicised wifi internet connection worked.  There seemed to be a number of newbies under training during our dealings with reception.
IMG_6177.JPGA good spot for lunch while in the region is at Morrisons Winery on the Pericoota Road just out of Moama.  You can taste the wines you are going to have for lunch or taste to take away.  Service and food was great.  However if it is a Club meal you are looking for please take our advice and stay away from the RSL.  Our food was unspeakable and the ambience nearly as bad!
